Good Family Good Heart

Dr. Vinod Kumar is dedicated to educating people to better cope with the cardiac illnesses that affect his patients and their loved ones.  That is why he has spent much time and affection developing his own wellness program event - Good Family, Good Heart.

We encourage you to attend one of our events to learn all you ever needed to know about the things that interest you the most.  The following are examples of the topics that are covered at these events.

  • Heart Diseases and Statistics

    Dr. Kumar will present to you a compelling lecture on heart related illnesses, how they effect you and your body and the stunning statistical realities we face.

    Did you know that 1 cup of corn oil has the same amount of calories as 100 ears of corn?   Nature never intended for a human to consume 100 ears of corn in one sitting...now THAT'S food for thought.

  • Treatments and Tests

    You will learn about common terminology for heart related illnesses and popular treatments and tests.  Dr. Kumar will describe to you in laymans detail about the procedures you may have already had or may have in the future should you not make life-changing decisions quickly.  Dr. Kumar will show you some of the tools used by Cardiac Surgeons today and explain to you how they work to prolong your life.  Most attendees find this portion of the program exciting, informative and intriguing.

  • Diet and Nutrition

    Most of those who suffer from heart related illnesses have a checkered history with food, making this segment one of our most popular.  The group will share a lunchtime meal together prepared specifically for this heart health event by caring and knowledgeable staff.  While we enjoy a fantastic and nutritious lunch we will have an open discussion led by Dr. Kumar about diet and nutrition.  We will discuss exactly what we are eating and how to make better food choices out in "the real world".  This is advice ANYONE can benefit from. 

  • Yoga, Meditation and Spiritual Wellness

    Dr. Kumar is an advocate of treating "the whole person" and not just the specific ailment they may be suffering from.  Overall well-being is key to living a long, happy life.  Dr. Kumar will share his experiences with meditation and spiritual wellness through a relaxed lecture open to discussion.

    After an eye-opening discussion we will all enjoy a refreshing, invigorating, and relaxing yoga session.  That's right - invigorating AND relaxing!  It's true, give it a try!  You will also be given the opportunity to purchase Dr. Kumar's Yoga, Meditation and Wellness DVD to use at home at your leisure.  A wonderful tool in the fight against not only heart diesase but many other ailments that plague us daily.

  • Fitness and Exercise

    Everybody needs to get more active in their daily lives!  We have come a long way from tending our fields and toiling away 12 hours a day, and although this new technology makes us better able to compete in an industrialized world, our bodies and hearts are paying the price for this lack of physical activity.

    Dr. Kumar will show you some very simple exercises you can do at home, at the office or anywhere you find yourself.  These exercises do not require any special tools, equipment or clothing.  All they require is a little dedication and effort from you - and a little encouragemnt from a loved one never hurt!  The Dr. will show you how to warm up properly, find and reach your target heart rate and how to cool down properly.  A fabulous part of our event - we encourage EVERYONE to enjoy this information!
